How i used embroider on my mask!

I really wanted to customize my face mask since it looks like we will have to wear them for some more time to come. My face mask originally just had a strawberry print all over it and i thought it would be cute to embroider the strawberries on instead!

I first headed out and found myself some wool in the right colours! i decided to use wool so it would stand out more and give me the look i was going for. i fund some bigger needles so it could take the wool through and before i started i got the wool and pulled it apart so it wouldn't be so thick.

Once i had threaded my needle it was time to begin. I looked up which style of stitches i wanted to do and settles on the Back stitch for the main and the French knots for the white seeds of the strawberry.

Back stitch.

The Back stitch is so easy and simple to do. First make sure you threaded you needle with enough thread to get you through. Then begin by putting the needle through the fabric from the back, and then back down to make a single stitch. Then back up through about half an inch a space away from the first stitch. Now bring your needle back down through the fabric at the end of the first stitch. This is the "back" part of the backstitch. Now thread your needle up through the fabric a space away from the previous stitch. You will then stitch back again. Just repeat this pattern of stitching and that is how you do the backstitch!

French knot.

French knot actually looks way harder than it is. First as always thread your needle and tie a knot in it to keep it secure. the you want to thread the thread from the back in the place you want to make the knot. Once threaded you need to get the thread and wrap in around the needle three or four times depending on the desired size of the knot and hold that in place and you thread it back through the place you first came through, doing this will create a small French knot! and just repeat until you are happy!
