25th Jan. Photoshop refresh.

Our afternoon session was perfect for me as I hadn't used photoshop for a couple of weeks it was really good to go through the basics again, and also learn some new techniques that will come in handy this semester.

We were making album covers. We first had to pick a portrait of someone we wanted to use. I already had in mind the portrait I wanted to use. I wanted to stick with my aesthetic so i chose an iconic photo of Anna Karina and wanted to create a cool 60s looking new wave album. After i finished i decided to have another go and make a few more in this style of me and my friends just to keep practicing the new techniques i learnt.

first things first I had to make sure i had the right measurements for the album cover. I needed to have 310 width and 310 length. I had to make sure I locked the first layer so I would have two separate layers the background layer and the picture. This was I was able to edit them both separately. I learnt in this session how to use the quick select tool which I found cuts out an image more accurately  than the lasso which is good for smaller details.

Once it was all cut out I had to make a mask. This is so i can change the colour of the background behind my image without it changing the image its self. I learnt how to use the bucket tool too which is really easy for changing the colour of the background and i was able to use some of my swatches that i made last semester as my background coulour.

Once I had chosen my back ground colour it was time for text. I wanted to keep it very minimalist so I just wrote out her name twice and styled it to look how I wanted it. I'm happy with the overall finished look and i feel so much more confident on photoshop now and have so many new techniques which will save me so much time in the future!
